John Edwards is an American lawyer and former politician. He represented North Carolina in the United States Senate from 1999 to 2005 as a member of the Democratic Party. Edwards was the Democratic Party's vice presidential nominee in the 2004 election, running alongside Senator John Kerry. He also sought the Democratic presidential nomination in both 2004 and 2008.
