Xie Jun is a Chinese chess grandmaster and holds the distinction of being the first Asian woman to achieve the title of chess grandmaster. She is a two-time Women's World Chess Champion, having reigned from 1991 to 1996 and again from 1999 to 2001. Among women chess players, she is one of only three to have held the title in two separate reigns. Currently, Xie Jun serves as the president of the Chinese Chess Association, and in 2019, she was inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame.
