Vladimír Špidla is a Czech politician who has held several prominent positions in both Czech and European politics. He served as the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic from 2002 to 2004. From 2004 to 2010, he was the European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities. Špidla also served as chief adviser to Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka from 2014 to 2017.
