Thomas Bach is a German lawyer, former Olympic foil fencer, and sports administrator. He won a gold medal in fencing at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Bach served as the ninth president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from 2013 to 2025. He is the first Olympic champion to hold that position.
