Sibghatullah Mojaddedi (1925-2019) was an Afghan politician and religious leader who played a pivotal role in Afghanistan's modern history. He was the first leader to call for armed resistance against the Soviet-backed regime in 1979 and founded the Afghan National Liberation Front. Following the fall of Mohammad Najibullah's government in 1992, he served as Acting President of Afghanistan. Mojaddedi later chaired the loya jirga that approved Afghanistan's new constitution in 2003 and held positions in the National Assembly and High Peace Council.
