Peter Abrahams, born Peter Henry Abrahams Deras, was a South African-born novelist, journalist, and political commentator. In 1956, he settled in Jamaica, where he lived for the rest of his life. Abrahams was known for his writings on racial identity, colonialism, and the challenges faced by individuals in societies marked by discrimination. His death at the age of 97 is considered to have been murder.
