Sebastian Coe, also known as Lord Coe, is a British sports administrator, former politician, and retired track and field athlete. As a middle-distance runner, he achieved remarkable success, winning four Olympic medals, including 1500 metres gold medals at the 1980 and 1984 Olympic Games. Coe set numerous world records in middle-distance track events, including three in just 41 days in 1979. His intense rivalries with fellow British runners Steve Ovett and Steve Cram defined middle-distance racing in the 1980s.
