Salvador Sánchez Cerén, also known as Leonel González, is a Salvadoran former politician, guerrilla commander, and school teacher. He served as the 80th president of El Salvador from 2014 to 2019. Sánchez Cerén was a leader in the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) during the Salvadoran Civil War and later became the country's vice president. He is the first former rebel to become president of El Salvador.
