Prayut Chan-o-cha is a Thai former politician and military officer who served as the 29th prime minister of Thailand from 2014 to 2023, following a coup d'état. He also held the position of minister of defence during his tenure. Prior to becoming prime minister, Prayut was the commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Army. He played a pivotal role in the 2014 coup, establishing the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), which governed Thailand for several years. His time in power was marked by political changes and challenges in the country.
