Poul Nyrup Rasmussen is a retired Danish politician who served as Prime Minister of Denmark from 1993 to 2001. He led the Social Democrats during this time and played a significant role in shaping Danish politics. Following his tenure as Prime Minister, he became President of the Party of European Socialists (PES) from 2004 to 2011. Rasmussen also served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2009.
