He is best remembered for leading Italy to victory in the 1982 FIFA World Cup, where he won the Golden Boot as the top goalscorer and the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player. Rossi is one of only three players to have won all three awards at a World Cup. He was also awarded the 1982 Ballon d'Or for his outstanding performances.
