Mohammad Hasan Akhund is an Afghan politician and cleric currently serving as the 27th prime minister of Afghanistan since 2025. He previously held the same role on an interim basis starting in 2021. As a member of the Taliban, he has been part of the Leadership Council since 2002. Prior to his current role, he served as deputy prime minister from 1996 to 2001 and as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1998 to 1999.
