Milka Planinc was a Croatian communist politician who made history as the Prime Minister of Yugoslavia from 1982 to 1986. She holds the distinction of being the first and only woman to ever hold this position. Furthermore, Planinc was the first female head of government of a diplomatically recognized socialist state in Europe.
