Meira Kumar is an Indian politician and former diplomat who has had a distinguished career in public service. As a member of the Indian National Congress, she served as the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment from 2004 to 2009, followed by a brief stint as the Minister of Water Resources in 2009. Notably, she became the first woman to hold the esteemed position of Speaker of the Lok Sabha, serving from 2009 to 2014.
