Gulbuddin Hekmatyar is an Afghan politician and the founder and leader of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin. He has a long and controversial history, having been a mujahideen commander during the Soviet-Afghan War. Hekmatyar served twice as prime minister of Afghanistan in the 1990s.
