Atifete Jahjaga is a Kosovar Albanian politician who served as President of Kosovo. She holds the distinction of being the first female President of Kosovo, as well as the first non-partisan candidate to hold the office. She was also the youngest female head of state to be elected to the position. Prior to her presidency, she served as Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police, achieving the rank of General Lieutenant Colonel.
