Alexander Vladimirovich Rutskoy is a Russian politician and former Soviet military officer. He served as the only vice president of Russia from 1991 to 1993 under Boris Yeltsin. During the 1993 Russian constitutional crisis, Rutskoy was proclaimed acting president by the parliament after Yeltsin's impeachment. He played a central role in the events of the crisis.
